Have you ever wondered why there are children experiencing all sorts of malnutrition even at a very young age? They would either be short for their age, thin for their height, heavy for their age, and so on. These forms of malnutrition all come from having poor nutrition at the very start of their lives.
Two summer seasons came by and here we are, still at home, restricted to do our favorite summer activities because of the pandemic. But don’t be upset. This is an opportunity to level-up our body’s immunity before we step outside and finally come back to our daily routines. It’s also an opportune time to bond with the family by creating new and exciting dishes.
We, Filipinos, are fortunate to be in a country where bountiful fresh seafoods are accessible for our consumption. Come summer days, seafoods become even more abundant. To name a few of these fresh bounties are varieties of prawns, oysters, squid, mussels, yellow fin tuna, tanigue, tambakol, and many others!

It’s the rainy season! Getting up in the morning becomes challenging due to the cool breeze plus the soothing sound of the pouring rain that pulls you back to your bed. Talagang mas masarap matulog at magbalot sa kumot. But what else keeps us warm in this cold rainy weather? Definitely a nice hot bowl of soup, na bagay na bagay sa lamig ng panahon.
Our nation’s culture was greatly influenced by our rich history involving people from different nationalities who tried to conquer or traded with our country. We can trace how they contributed to the formation of our own unique culture. Their influence can also be seen in our vibrant food culture.
We Filipinos love to eat snacks. And most of us are fond of eating street food for merienda ever since we were kids. We would usually go to side streets to buy our favorite tusok-tusok - using sticks to get our pick of deep-fried fish balls, squid balls, and kikiam. There is also a choice of dips which include thick sweet, savory, and/or spicy sauces! How yummy and nostalgic since we cannot huddle around the fishball stand for the moment.
